This programme is ideal for learners who want to progress into aesthetics but need an appropriate Level 3 foundation in skin, anatomy and physiology, facial treatments, consultation, infection prevention and professional practice.

Our programme combines flexible online theory learning with hands-on practical training, live-client experience and professional assessment at our Cardiff training centre.

On successful completion, you will achieve the:

Focus Awards Level 3 Certificate in Entry to Aesthetic Therapies (RQF)

This qualification provides an excellent progression route into our Level 4 Advanced Aesthetics qualifications, including Dermaplaning, Chemical Skin Peels and Skin Needling.

Anatomy & Physiology

How You Will Learn

Our Level 3 Pathway to Aesthetics is delivered through a blended learning approach, combining flexible home study with hands-on practical training at our Cardiff training centre.

Online Theory & Home Study

You will complete the theory element of your qualification through our online learning platform, allowing you to study from home around your other commitments.

Your home learning will develop the essential underpinning knowledge required before progressing into practical training and assessment.

Practical Training Days

You will attend our Cardiff training centre for face-to-face practical training, where your tutor will demonstrate the required techniques before supporting you as you develop your own practical skills.

Live Client Experience

You will gain hands-on experience performing treatments on live clients/models throughout your practical training and assessment.

This allows you to develop your practical ability, confidence and professional client-management skills while preparing you for your assessments and future progression into advanced aesthetics.

How You Will Be Assessed

Assessment takes place throughout your Level 3 Pathway to Aesthetics and is designed to ensure you develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical competence required before progressing into advanced aesthetics.

Theory & Workbook

You will complete online theory learning from home alongside a qualification workbook containing knowledge questions and activities relating to your course units.

Your completed theory work and workbook will contribute towards your portfolio of evidence and must be completed within the required course timescale.

Formative Assessment

Before progressing to your final assessment, you will attend a formative assessment day.

During this session, you will perform treatments on live clients/models under the observation and guidance of your tutor/assessor.

This allows you to:

• Demonstrate your developing practical skills
• Put your consultation and skin-analysis knowledge into practice
• Gain experience working with live clients
• Receive constructive feedback
• Identify any areas requiring further development
• Prepare for your final assessment

Summative Assessment

Once you have completed your required theory, workbook, practical training and formative assessment, you will progress to your summative assessment.

During your final assessment, you will be required to demonstrate that you can safely and independently meet the required standards of the qualification.

Quality Assurance & Certification

Assessment decisions are subject to our Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes to ensure assessment is fair, consistent and meets the required qualification standards.

Once all requirements have been successfully completed and the appropriate quality assurance processes have taken place, certification will be claimed through Focus Awards.

Your Qualification

Once you have successfully completed all required theory, practical training, assessments and portfolio evidence, and the relevant quality assurance requirements have been met, you will achieve:

The qualification is awarded by Focus Awards, with training and assessment delivered by Cardiff Nail & Beauty Training School as an approved Focus Awards centre.

Progressing Into Advanced Aesthetics

This qualification has been designed to provide learners with the essential Level 3 knowledge and practical foundations needed to progress further within the aesthetics industry.

Following successful completion, learners can progress onto our Level 4 Advanced Aesthetics pathway, subject to the entry requirements of the individual qualification.

Our Level 4 pathway includes:

• Level 4 Dermaplaning
• Level 4 Chemical Skin Peels
• Level 4 Skin Needling
• Advanced consultation and skin assessment
• Advanced facial anatomy and physiology

Learners beginning our complete Level 4 pathway will start with Level 4 Dermaplaning, which incorporates the underpinning Level 4 Facial Anatomy & Physiology and Investigative Consultation & Advanced Skin Assessment units, before progressing onto further advanced treatment qualifications.

Optional Facial Electrotherapy Progression

You can also enhance your Level 3 training by adding our Level 3 Facial Electrotherapy qualification, allowing you to develop additional professional facial treatment skills and achieve a second regulated Level 3 qualification.
