What You Will Learn
You will develop your understanding of facial electrotherapy alongside the practical skills required to safely select, plan and perform electrical facial treatments for different client needs and skin concerns.
Facial Electrotherapy Treatments
Practical training will include a range of professional facial electrical techniques, including:
Galvanic – Desincrustation & Iontophoresis
Learn the professional application of galvanic current, including desincrustation for deep cleansing and iontophoresis techniques used alongside appropriate professional skincare products.
Faradic / EMS
Develop your understanding and practical application of electrical muscle stimulation within facial treatments, including appropriate client selection, electrode placement and safe treatment techniques.
High Frequency
Learn how to safely perform professional high-frequency facial treatments, including appropriate application techniques for different skin types and concerns.
Microcurrent
Develop practical skills in professional facial microcurrent treatments, including treatment planning, correct application techniques and adapting the treatment to individual client needs.
Vacuum Suction
Learn appropriate facial vacuum suction techniques and how they can be incorporated safely into professional facial treatments.
Consultation & Treatment Planning
Alongside your practical electrotherapy skills, you will develop your knowledge of:

Qualification Units
Learners will complete the following mandatory units:

- Anatomy and Physiology for Beauty Therapy
- Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
- Promote and Sell Products and Services to Clients
These units combine the underpinning theoretical knowledge required at Level 3 with the practical skills needed to safely plan and provide professional facial electrotherapy treatments.

How You Will Learn
Our Level 3 Facial Electrotherapy qualification is delivered through a blended learning approach, combining flexible home study with hands-on practical training at our Cardiff training centre.

Practical Training Days
You will attend our Cardiff training centre for face-to-face practical training using professional facial electrotherapy equipment.
Your tutor will demonstrate the required techniques before supporting you as you develop your practical skills.

Live Client Experience
You will gain hands-on experience performing facial electrotherapy treatments on live clients/models during your practical training and assessment.
This allows you to develop confidence in selecting and combining appropriate treatment techniques while gaining valuable experience working with different clients and skin concerns.
How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment takes place throughout your Level 3 Facial Electrotherapy qualification and is designed to ensure you develop both the theoretical knowledge and practical competence required to safely provide professional facial electrotherapy treatments.
Theory & Workbook
You will complete online theory learning from home alongside your qualification workbook, containing knowledge questions and activities relating to the units within your qualification.
Your completed theory work and workbook will contribute towards your portfolio of evidence and must be completed within the required course timescale.
Formative Assessment
Before progressing to your final assessment, you will attend a formative assessment day where you will perform facial electrotherapy treatments on live clients/models under the observation and guidance of your tutor/assessor.
This allows you to:
- Demonstrate your developing practical skills
- Practise professional consultation and skin analysis
- Select appropriate electrotherapy treatments
- Demonstrate safe use of electrical equipment
- Receive constructive feedback

Summative Assessment
Once you have completed your required theory, workbook, practical training and formative assessment, you will progress to your summative assessment.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can safely and independently plan and perform the required facial electrotherapy treatments to the standard expected for the qualification.
